As you may know, the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board recently approved changes to this year’s school calendar to compensate for the four instructional days when we cancelled classes last month due to the winter weather conditions that made travel conditions hazardous for you and your children. The plan that was approved is intended to make up for the time as required by state regulations in a manner that will have the least impact on you and your children. The changes include converting the third day of the scheduled Mardi Gras holidays on Wednesday, March 5th to a regular instructional day, and also converting Friday, March 14th, which was originally scheduled as a teaching planning day, to a regular day of instruction for students. This means that students should report to school for classes on March 5th and 14th. Additionally, we will be extending the regular school day by 30-minutes from Monday, February 10th through Tuesday, March 18th. Classes will start in the morning at the same time as they do now, but dismissal will occur half an hour later than our current dismissal time. You should adjust your plans and schedules accordingly with these school calendar changes and the extended school days in mind. This information is posted on both the school system and our school web sites. If you have any questions about these changes, please do not hesitate to call the school office or simply come by our school. Thank you!
