Tiered Literacy Approach

At Glen Oaks High we also have a tiered literacy system to assist our students in becoming proficient on grade level readers and writers.

  • Tier One targets all students whom over the course of the year will participate in the school wide vocabulary and comprehension strategies listed above.
  • Tier Two targets students who scored an Approaching Basic on the LEAP test.  These stuents are assessed using the Scholastic Reading Inventory; and, if they qualify are placed into the READ 180 program.
  • Tier Three targets students who scored an Unsatisfacory on the LEAP test.  These students are assessed using the LANGUAGE! Placement test; and, if they qualify are placed into the LANGUAGE! program for the next two years.
