Magnet Programs

Nursing ProgramThe innovative four-year medical program at Glen Oaks Magnet School is for students who show a special interest in medical and health careers.

This comprehensive program has been designed to effectively combine academic skills, theoretical training and practical experience in the medical and health care fields. A combination of these factors enables students to enter the world of work immediately after graduation and/or to be better prepared for advanced studies at the college or post-secondary level.

Medical/health career students are encouraged to pursue academic courses that will complement units of study in the medical career curriculum. By design, the medical/health careers course of study is multi-faceted to give students the oppportunity to explore various health careers and make meaningful career choices.

Through cooperative work experiences, students actually "try out" a career before making a long-term commitment. Students have opportunities to apply theory and classroom instruction in medical and pharmaceutical labs, dental clinics, and through actual patient care in hospitals and public care facilities.Experience the difference that high expectations and effective resources can make in a student's education.
